Sept 26 date for bid to transfer Lynas suit

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here will hear on Sept 26 an application by an anti-Lynas group to transfer the hearing of a defamation suit, brought against it by Lynas Corporation Ltd, to the Kuantan High Court.

Datuk Bastian Pius Vendargon, who is acting for "Save Malaysia, Stop Lynas" (SMSL) group, said judge Datuk John Louis O'Hara would also hear an application for disclosure of documents on the same date.

He said both applications were filed a week after the court dismissed Lynas' bid to stop the group from publishing alleged defamatory statements in its blog on July 26.

In the suit filed on April 19, Lynas Corporation and Lynas Malaysia Sdn Bhd named SMSL Sdn Bhd, its directors Tan Bun Teet and Lim Sow Teow, and three of the group's volunteers as defendants.
